...am not so sold on the lyrics.
It amuses me when I espouse an opinion about something and a person acts surprised. Yes, I'm a clean-cut, white girl who speaks properly, rarely uses profanity, dresses conservatively... but I'm not as one-dimensional as I may seem. It's almost as though to express any kind of individuality I need some kind of edge... something I seem to lack.
I fought being "girly" for so long... squelching the occasional giggle for fear of not being taken seriously. I may be soft, act polite, wear skirts... but I can still probably kick your ass in a pool. I'm more competitive than most people I know.
Just because I love cheesy pop music doesn't mean I can't also adore more intellectual fare. I suppose what I am trying to express is a frustration at being pigeon-holed... just like everyone else.
I have a deeply held love of strange music. So I did what anyone would do in this day and age and devoted a blog to it.

Quick Question...
Does anyone know a song potentially by Nick Carraway potentially titled "The Party Has Begun"...? It's got a bit of a sufer, 60's vibe to it...
I'm not sure where my boyfriend found the song and searches for the names given along with segments of lyrics turn up nothing. So I'm going to give typing the lyrics up a try...
"...Santa Claus is coming to...
Hey! Ha ha ha hey hit me with your wicked [something maybe "ohhh"]
Hey, hey hit me with your wicked [again something unintelligible "aah"?]
I can't feel it
Hit me harder
I can't stand it
No pain darling
You just hit hit hit
Oh right
Mmmm
Oh right
Hit me, hit me, ah
Mmmmm
Owww
Ha, ha, ha
mmmah
Hey, hahaha hey hit me with your wicked [oh?]
Hey, woah, woah, woah, hey hit me with your wicked [oh?]
I can't feel it
Hit me harder
I can't stand it
No pain, darling
You just hit me
Spank me
Rape me[?]
Lick me[?]
Hit me[?]
Ah, right...."
Anyone have any ideas?

Retrospective
I'm cleaning. It's late at night. I'm strangely energized and I am cleaning. It feels good... not quite cathartic, but in a similar vein.
Ever have a moment when someone said something and it completely confirmed your actions? An ex once informed me that he should have had me dye my hair red while we were dating. It seems small, but this one statement summed up a great portion of the reason why we ended. Overly concerned with physical appearances, him trying to get me to change the way I look/dressed.
I'm happy where I am.
Dancing around in leggings and socks and too-dark lipstick... how else would you clean?
Edit:
I unintentionally posted this on the wrong blog, but now that it is here I don't feel like deleting it.
Here is my current cleaning playlist:
Talk to Me, Dance with Me by the Hot Hot Heat
Break Me, Shake Me by Savage Garden
Gingerbread Coffin by Rasputina
Quicksand by La Roux
The Chain by Fleetwood Mac
And then some...
